Tuesday morning arrives, and I have homework (journaling) to be done for today's A+A class. So, Colleen and I agree to meet at the yummy crepe place right near my school right before class - as my teacher was kind enough to allow Colleen to join class again while we went on an excursion to St. Vitus Cathedral at the Prague Castle.
Colleen spends the morning at Wenceslas Sq. with coffee and serenity, as then off to the Cubism museum - Prague is the only place in Europe, I believe, where this form of art was used in architecture.
So, I journal and then meet Colleen at the Castle end of Charles Bridge @ 1:45p ... class is at 2p. We head to class, and have a short lecture before heading out to St. Vitus. You've seen my exterior pics of St. Vitus on the 17th and 18th of June (blog and Picasa) ... but THIS time, we went inside the enormous cathedral.
I was overwhelmed when walking in this magnificent house of worship, and though allowed to take pictures - I did not. I was too intent on learning from my teacher, and being able to actually hear him ... there were MANY people visiting the church, and due to the size - sound doesn't carry laterally well, vertically great though!
What, you are upset!?!? Don't fret my peeps ... I MOST ASSUREDLY WILL GO BACK - - and just for pics this time, alone and plenty of time to document the fabulousness of this cathedral who has parts of it dating back to the 9th century.
;-}
So, I will save the history for the blog with the photos. Colleen got some though - on her Facebook if you wanna see!
We had a lovely time there, and though would have liked to stay longer and linger and learn (as my teacher doesn't tend to run off when class ends) ... we had to go, as Colleen needed to be in a taxi from her hotel at 6p - it was now 5:10p.
So, we hoofed it down from the Castle to the Malostranska metro stop - and made it to her hotel in plenty of time. She gave me some goodies, mostly from her bathroom (smile) ... but two much more fabulous things! At the cubism museum, she got me two pieces of fancy paper - the kind you would use to wrap a present ... for my flat wall. They are beautiful, and I wish I had thought to take some photos! I will do that when I return ... as I am in Budapest right now.
Thanks Colleen - - they are great gifts.
And so, Colleen and I say our goodbyes ... hugs and thank you's - and she is off.
:-(
But ... I am glad that I got to have her with me for the time I did. AND ... since the good part about being delayed in my blog is that I get to included hindsight - - she arrived safe and sound back home in Somerville, and Bella was thrilled!
So ... that is that.
And, I have no pics from this day - - can you believe it?!?
Thanks for reading.
you're writing is so vivid (meaning alive with concrete, appropriate word choices, says english prof mom!) and easy to follow.
ReplyDeletei'm glad too that you had colleen there with you for a time...did you hang the fancy papers on your wall?

mom
